Opinions wanted!
– The View from the Opinion Editor –
This section of the newspaper is not just for those of us who sit down together and hash out articles each week. It is not just for Aaron, Kley, Laura, Margaret, Nancy, Ryan, Samantha, Steven, Zach and I. We like what we do, and we hope that we do it well. However, the Crimson is a paper for you more than it is something for us to do.
So, this week I wanted to highlight some ways you can contribute to the newspaper besides angrily throwing it aside in the Caf when you disagree with someone’s writing. As Kley Sippel rightly points out in his column this week, there are many better things to do, better ways to disagree.
Come comment on the website. The whole design has been revamped since last year and it’s much more user-friendly. Based off a blog-style format, the Crimson website works just like any other friend’s blog on which you might leave a comment. In times past, the website has been a fertile ground for many intriguing debates. See www.samfordcrimson.com.
Submit a “Your View.” These are 250 word contributions (typically from students) on recent campus events. What do you think about the university’s new push for attendance at the football games? Was the aesthetic investment in the UC or the new Smoothie Bar on West Campus worth it?
Submit a guest column. Do you have too great an opinion to be confined to just 250 words? These 450 word pieces allow for greater input from the Samford community are valued here at the Crimson, as well.
You can submit directly to me or to the Crimson via email.
