Despite standing at 6ft 4 in, the 21-year-old decided to kneel behind the wall in case the Portuguese ace looked for the bottom corner.

Trying to copy Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic after he denied Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp, McTominay was looking to have the last laugh.

However, right-back Cedric emphatically found the top left corner – leaving David De Gea with no chance.

But fans couldn't believe the towering midfielder wasn't in the wall, as he was left red faced following the strike.

Third game running Scott McTominay has started for #mufc. They've conceded two in the first-half of all of them. Nobody should be surprised by this.
