Fury vs Wilder: Man Utd have ‘no plans’ to host rematch at Old Trafford as WBC champ appears on James Corden’s Late Late Show

Manchester United have no plans to host the rematch between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder at Old Trafford, according to reports.

The two heavyweights fought out a bout for the ages on the weekend – with the result called a controversial draw by the judges.

Both fighters immediately called for a rematch after the epic encounter, and as the fight was in America on Wilder's terms, the repeat match is expected to be in England.

Many fans are licking their lips at the mouthwatering prospect of the repeat fight and questions are being asked about potential locations.

Frank Warren, Fury's promoter, has supported the idea of a stadium fight.

Speaking in the post-fight conference at the Staples Center, he said: “I’d love the rematch. I’d love to see it in the UK. We’d fill a football stadium up, Wembley, Arsenal, any of those big stadiums.

"You’d think they’d want the rematch. They’ve said they do.

“It’s got a good chance of coming to London. You’d have a 90,000 gate at Wembley, so you’re talking serious money.

“But with Tyson, he’ll travel – he’ll go where the money is.”

However, according to the Standard, the Manchester club have 'no plans' to host the rematch – with focus remaining on football as the primary source of entertainment.

The last time Old Trafford staged a fight was when Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn drew at the venue in 1993.

Fury is a United fan and has always been desperate for one of his fights to be Old Trafford.

He has previously cited the Theatre of Dreams as the venue for an eventually cancelled fight with David Haye.

And he expressed his desire to fight there again by pleading with Warren after the fight.

He said: "Old Trafford! Come on Frank!”

But it looks like Man Utd won't budge over their position and organisers will have to search elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder appeared as a guest on James Corden's Late Late show in LA.

The Bronze Bomber has not ruled out the possibility of fighting Anthony Joshua in a unification bout and AJ's promoter Eddie Hearn has flown over to LA for discussions.

After the fight, he said: “It is no secret I have been trying to fight Joshua. But those guys have other plans so let’s so what happens.

“So I am happy either or, I’m happy to fight Joshua or rematch Fury. It’s a win-win situation. Let’s see what we do next.”
