Through the first 14 games of this season, Emery's sprint stars have covered an astonishing 1,003 miles – the most of any team in the Premier League.

That is some 129 miles longer than the distance between Land's End and John o'Groats.

By contrast, Mourinho's marauders have managed just 938 miles.

That places them in the bottom five of the top flight.

IAN WRIGHT Man Utd are in turmoil… Arsenal have never had a better chance of winning

The biggest mauling in that time was the unforgettable 8-2 defeat in August 2011.

Arsenal last won at Old Trafford in the league in September 2006, when Emmanuel Adebayor grabbed the winner.

But massively in their favour this time is the makeshift defence Mourinho will have to throw together.

The Special One is set to line up with Marcos Rojo, Nemanja Matic, Diogo Dalot and Matteo Darmian at the back.

Rojo has played just 90 minutes this season following injury, while youngster Dalot playing just 72 minutes.

Matic is set to be played out of position once again, having starting at centre-back for the 2-2 draw with lowly Saints.

That makes Darmian the elder statesman of the back-four having played 180 minutes – just two games' worth – in defence for United this season.

Maybe all their running around in their own box against the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette will boost their miles run stat… if nothing else.
