However, the Italian boss wants a replacement to help bolster his squad amid a tricky run of form.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Rabiot, 23, has fallen out with the club's hierarchy over a new contract.
The youth graduate has only six months left on his current deal, and had been attracting interest from Barcelona.
However, he could be persuaded to swap Paris for London as Chelsea look to secure Champions League qualification.

To get the deal completed, the Blues would have to fend off competition from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham.
Chelsea have also been linked with other midfield targets, including Nicola Barella.
The club are currently fourth in the Premier League, ten points behind leaders Liverpool.
They remain three points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal before Saturday's visit of Newcastle.
