Chi O Closet had a successful turn out on March 30 and 31. The Chi Omega Zeta Zeta chapter hosts Chi O Closet annually benefitting Make-A-Wish Alabama. The event consists of the sale of donated clothing and accessories from students around campus.
In the weeks leading up to Chi O Closet, everyone was encouraged to bring clothes from home to donate to the event. Men and women from all areas of campus dropped off a range of items at the Chi Omega house. All of the items were given directly to the event in order to raise money for Make-A-Wish Alabama.
Chi Omega Zeta Zeta philanthropy chair Sarah Weston said the event raised $584 and is hoping that number will increase as they have flash sales to sell the leftover items.
“Chi O Closet allows for us to take the blessings we have and use them to bless others,” Weston said. “Blessing someone else doesn’t have to be about money. A lot of times, it’s just about using the resources we have already been given.”
This year, Chi O closet was held in the Howard Room to direct more traffic from all Samford publics. The event brought men and women together from multiple Samford organizations in order to benefit one cause.
“The beauty of Chi O closet is that it brings everyone on campus together,” Weston said. “Anyone can donate, anyone can shop and everyone gets to benefit Make-A-Wish Alabama.”
