Musical adaptation of Jane Eyre to premiere on Thursday

By RACHAEL HEADLEY, Features Editor

From April 30 to May 3, the Samford theatre department will present a musical adaptation of “Jane Eyre.”

Senior musical theatre major Carin Lagerberg will star as the musical’s namesake.

Junior musical theatre major J.D. Myers will co-star as Edward Rochester.

Additional performances will include Cory Wagener, Abi Benke, Elise Leveille, Kyle Pierce and Elizabeth McGuire.

“I’m most excited to see the hard work we’ve put in this last month come together in one whole production for a new audience,” Myers said. “This week will be the first time the actors have seen a lot of the technical aspects of the show, and that’s really very exciting.”

The production will be in Harrison Theatre at 7:30 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday. On Sunday, the final performance will be at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by a talk back session for convocation credit.

The production will be a part of the Michael J. and Mary Ann Freeman Theatre and Dance Series.

Tickets are $12, but only $6 for students. They can be purchased online at tickets.samford.edu or in the box office.
