SGA Elections Open

By Sarah Waller

The polls are open! Today marks the Student Government Association’s fall elections. And with 79 people running for 54 available positions in Senate and class officers, every vote will make a difference.

Available on Portal until 8 p.m., the candidates students will vote for will depend on where one currently lives, the academic school one’s major aligns with and the credit hours one has received.

For senators, candidates are running to represent their area of campus – Central, West, Off-Campus and Beeson Woods – or their academic school – Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Arts and Nursing.

For class officers, candidates are running for President, Vice President or Secretary/Treasurer. Credit hours decide which class officers will be listed on the ballot.

Voting for the students who will represent the student body in Senate and though class officers is simple and painless. After signing onto Portal, click on the Banner tab. There one will find the link to the election ballot.

Quick, easy and so important! A Senate that is made up of strong and determined individuals will work hard to accomplish the things that student think need to be changed. Class officers that are approachable and attentive will make sure students voices are heard by Samford’s administration.
