Women’s tennis opens conference play 2-0

The women’s tennis team (8-7, 2-0 SoCon) breezed past the competition in its opening weekend of SoCon play, capturing a pair of convincing home victories over rivals Furman and Wofford.Web-tennis

The Bulldogs defeated the visiting Paladins 5-2 on Saturday, securing the doubles point before winning four of the six singles matches. SoCon Player of the Week senior Stephanie N’tcha (No. 1), junior Jessica Northcutt (No. 3, pictured left), junior Carita Moolman (No.4) and freshman Savannah Wood (No.6) all claimed straight set victories.

The women carried their momentum from the previous day’s triumph on to Sunday, steamrolling the Terriers 7-0. The ‘Dogs refused to cede a single match in the dominant performance, securing nine-straight victories between doubles and singles play. The team will put its three-game win streak on the line today at Mercer.
